Technology Used:
CCS developed and designed a software package used to record
and cross reference data for State and Local Government water
reservoirs in NSW, VIC, QLD and NT.
The project's specifications were developed during meetings
with the client and CCS, over a duration of 35 weeks.
The design including the database schema was developed and
documented before implementation began. The project utilises
Visual Basic for rapid generation of the front end.
The initial database was Microsoft Access, but movement to
Microsoft SQL Server was anticipated as volume of reservoirs
increased. The design was prepared for this eventuality and
thus the transaction to SQL Server was successful with minimal
impact on the project.
Database replication between portable subsets of data and
the main database itself is being handled programmatically,
to enable updates to be sent and received by disk or email.
The program is completed and is currently being installed
in shire councils. These clients are Australia's largest reservoir
potable diving companies servicing over 300 Shire Councils and
major city Councils.
